Toolbar

The Jakartowns toolbar is a valuable resource for optimizing the viewing experience. When Jakartowns is in imagery mode, the toolbar allows users to navigate through different scans. In point cloud mode, the toolbar offers a variety of functionalities. These tools enable navigation through the point cloud, data manipulation, and filtering.

List of Scans

The toolbar displays a list of scans corresponding to different scanning dates. Users can select these different scans to quickly access panoramic images and point clouds collected at specific times. This feature provides valuable historical perspective for analyzing and comparing changes at a specific location over time.

Filters

  • Display Distance

A tool that allows you to adjust the number of points visible at a given time. By adjusting this distance, it is possible to define a specific range of points to display from the chosen position.

  • Intensity Filter

With the intensity filter, you can set a range of intensity values. Points outside this intensity range will be hidden from the displayed point cloud, allowing you to reduce noise or focus on specific objects.

  • Classification Filter

This filter allows you to refine the displayed data by eliminating certain types of pre-classified objects.

Styles

  • Point Intensity

This option allows visualizing the LiDAR point cloud based on the strength of the laser return signal, providing a different perception of objects and their materials.

  • Point Size

This feature allows adjusting the size of the points displayed in the LiDAR point cloud, improving data readability and interpretation.

  • Colorize by Elevation

This feature colors the points in the cloud based on their altitude.

Support Tools

  • Elevation Floor

This tool simulates a water level rise, such as during a flood. By adjusting the elevation floor, it becomes possible to visualize which areas would be flooded based on the defined water level.

Navigation

  • Free Navigation

This feature allows you to move freely through the point cloud, offering detailed and flexible 3D space exploration.

Aerial LiDAR

This feature allows integrating and visualizing data from aerial systems (such as open aerial LiDAR data provided by the city of Montreal) directly into the Jakartowns application, enriching the viewing experience with detailed and precise city data.

The availability of this function depends on the integrations performed. Data can come from our partners, our own acquisitions, or organizations sharing open data. For example, open aerial LiDAR data provided by the city of Montreal is available.

Other Features

  • Panoramic Image Overlay

This tool allows adding an imagery layer to the point clouds for a richer visual experience. However, there may be a misalignment between the image and the points due to time or accuracy differences between the two data sources. To ensure accuracy, measurements should be taken from the 3D data.
