Data Quality
Jakarto generates digital twins using mobile mapping units.
These systems collect two types of source data:
Very high-density georeferenced point clouds;
High-resolution georeferenced panoramic images;
These source data are accessible within Jakartowns for consultation, navigation, measurement, and manual asset inventory.
These data are also used by Jakarto’s artificial intelligence algorithms to produce certain automated asset inventories and 2D imagery products (tiled layers). "Data sheets" provide detailed information about the structure of asset inventory data and their respective attributes.
Please take note of the following additional information regarding the asset inventories produced by Jakarto:
Completeness of Inventory Data
Only assets visible from the street can be detected. However, visual obstructions during data collection may prevent asset detection.
Our artificial intelligence algorithms automatically recognize most assets from a specific inventory (trees, poles, manholes, and storm drains, etc.). Our quality control and manual data entry process helps increase our completeness rate.
Jakarto strives to offer the most detailed and comprehensive inventories. While perfection is difficult to achieve, the Jakarto team continuously works to provide the most complete data possible. The company works tirelessly to ensure maximum accuracy and completeness in its inventories. By using rigorous verification methods, Jakarto aims to provide an incredible user experience through high-quality inventory data.
Geolocation Accuracy of Jakarto Data
The data collected by Jakarto correspond to what is visible from the street where the data collection units operate. The sensors are approximately 2 meters above the ground.
Since the vehicle moves during data collection and the accuracy partly depends on satellite signals received for positioning on Earth's surface (GNSS constellation), the accuracy of the data varies over time and space.
Accuracy variations are mainly influenced by the environment around the vehicle. Accuracy will be better when the truck operates in open environments (highways, rural roads) and may be degraded in obstructed environments (skyscrapers, tunnels, dense canopies). For these complex cases, our system is equipped with specialized sensors to compensate for GNSS signal loss.
Based on our historical observations, 90% of the time, the 3D accuracy of the data collected by the system is better than 3 cm (MRSE; equivalent to 5 cm SAS99). For more details, we invite you to consult the associated technical note.
Accuracy may vary from one capture campaign to another. The accuracy of a fall survey without leaves may be better than a summer survey with dense foliage. In the Jakartowns toolbar, an option is provided to change the date of the survey, allowing you to visit different dates if precision issues are encountered.
Accuracy information is displayed in the footer at all times and is also available in the 2D map of Jakartowns for all trajectory points.
How to Change Survey Date to Improve Data Quality in Jakartowns?
When you encounter a red banner indicating low trajectory quality in Jakartowns, you have the option to change the survey date. By changing this date, you can access a survey performed on another day, potentially offering more precise data.
Open the toolbar.
Once the toolbar is open, locate the specific button that indicates available surveys. Select the desired date from the dropdown menu to display the corresponding survey. If no other date is listed, it means there is only one recorded survey for this specific location.
Once the new date is selected, the modified data will appear on the screen.
